Something has died on my couch

my nephew is staying with me this week while his folks are away - teenagers need a lot of sleep.
The above pic is funny to me - something out of a Vincent Price movie.

Surprise !!

Marcy I surprised Suz yesterday with happy new home warming gifts
of course balloons, champagne and a beautiful plant

Suz has so much done already - this is her darling studio area - everything looks so pretty and inviting. I didn't want to leave.

I'm on my courtyard this morning gettingt ready to create something - I will show you later what I've doing.

I'm growing a giant

Took my sweet son to the drs today for a physical. Alrik is going to start playing pop warner football starting in August. Well it appears that I am growing a giant - he is 8 almost 9 next month. He is 4 foot 10 inches, 83 lbs and a size 7 in shoes ( women's 9) doc says he is the size of a 11 1/2 year old - what??
Hubby is tall with giant feet, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.
I am just a bit surprised to hear he is so big. The weight limit for his age in football is 90#. I do like that he is on the heavier end of the scale.
Spent yesterday in Newport. Our Sunday routine, jump up at 7am out of the house by 8am and on the sand by 9am - no traffic, lots of parking and empty beach - perfect way to enjoy my Sunday morning coffee.
On our way to 15th street there were two boys around 13 or 14 hitch hiking - yes, hitch hiking - thumbs out - as we passed i gasped and said "those boys are hitch hiking, we should pick them up cuz we're not weirdos" - hubby knowing that if he didn't turn around he would get an ear full for the rest of his life - he turns the truck around and we go back to get them. Well once a mom always a mom - I really gave them a scolding. Apparently their parents went to Vegas and they thought they would head for the beach - reasonable plan providing you have a RIDE - and they did take the bus as far as the could, they were on skateboards and got tired. I told them a weird could have picked them up, don't they listen to the news!! I really let them have it - in a nice but firm mom way. I made sure they had money for lunch and such - they did. And when I asked how they were getting home they gave me the answer a mom wants to hear - "we are taking the bus home mame" I said "thank you" and please be careful and stay safe!! I'm sure they thought that I was the weirdo. My heart goes out to other parents, we've got to look out for each other's kids if we can. And we need to remind them if they are not making good choices.
Once a mom always mom no matter whose kid it is.
hug your kids and tell them you love them and NOT TO HITCH HIKE!!

Above is my sweet boy when he was about 3 years old looking at the New Jersey shore.

I think he is 4 years old here - dress up for Halloween. What a cutie!

This is from September 2003, me and hubby at my brothers wedding.

Happy Hump Day!!

I'm off today to have dinner with my cousin, aunt and mom. My cousin just got back from 3 weeks in Europe and she has her pictures to show us. We are going to Citrus Grill in the Orange Circle.

Heather's card swap

I finished my cards (all 12 of them) for Heather's card swap - I enjoyed doing so much that I finished all yesterday afternoon. I used the old book page paper I painted on the day before, also vellum envelopes on the front with sheet music and stamp type images. I will be making some invites this week for a birthday party my mom is having for me -

I enjoyed my afternoon by the pool with Suz http://emphasisallmine.typepad.com/emphasismine/
Jana, Jill and all the kids. Alrik and I got there there late as this was a last minute plan for us.
It was wonderful to have the entire afternoon with nothing more to do than be at the pool with friends - it was real treat for me.

p.s. still thinking about Silverbella......

Sunday, July 06, 2008

This is where I sat yesterday morning before it got too hot. I heart my courtyard.
With dog at my feet I worked on....

these book pages. I made a huge pile of them. It was so much fun just working quickly painting and painting, listening to my fountain and enjoying the coolest of the morning.

I will cut some of these up and use on the cards I'm making for Heather's card swap -

this is a before pic -

enjoy your day!

Good Morning

Good Morning to July 5th!

Hope everyone had a wonderful 4th - I sure did. The firewords were the best!!!

Today I'm heading off with mom to downtown Orange for lunch and shopping - this evening I will work on my scrapbook for Alora. It's almost done, I really like the way it looks and I will post pics in a few days. Next I will start on the card swap I'm in with Heather http://boobyfish.blogspot.com/ - I have always said "I'm going to make my own cards" and never do so - maybe this will inspire me to make them.

Enjoy your day.

Summer of Vicki

Starting July 1st I will have to go part time at work. I work for a title company and as we all know the market is in the toilet. So for now I will go part time and all I can think of is: “it’s the summer of Vicki” – this comes from the Seinfeld episode when George doesn’t have a job (again), he keeps saying “it’s the summer of George”, he lists about 20 things he’s going to do during the time off. I have my list but I’m wondering if I too will be like George and do absolutely nothing on the list. George doesn’t even get dressed he lives in his sweats the entire summer. I’ve never in all my years worked part time, it’s going to feel great and weird at the same time but I know I will enjoy every minute of it because with this industry I’m in, I could be back to work full time in a month so I want to really make the best of the time I’ll have off – “It’s the summer of Vicki” !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

do you miss me?

I've been on the east coast with my in-laws - I'll write more when I have more time.

Thoughts and such

This image goes out to Marcy - she knows what this is all about ...

I signed up for an Inspirational event for October in Henderson NV. Some wonderful women are teaching – Teresa Collins whom I adore she is a very girly designer, Janna Wilson a total doll and Layle Koncar  who I’m not familiar with but I’m sure she’s just as sweet as the others. Here’s the link if you’d like to check it out http://inspirationunlimited.homestead.com

Father’s day was fun – pool party at my brothers, lots of food and drinks!! I gave hubby a flip video camera, what fun this is and it’s super easy to use.

Next week we are going back east for our cousin’s wedding. Heard it’s hot and humid in NJ – yuck!!  I am looking forward to spending a day in New Hope with friends and another day in NYC with hubby and son. Alrik hasn’t been to the city yet but has heard us talk about our trips there that didn’t include him. I’m excited to see his little face when we step off the train and curious to see if an 8 year old will feel the excitement of the city as I do. I heart NCY!!!!!!!!!!!

We are going to be on the plane for 5 hours and I need a project to do – I just can’t sit. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thought about cross stitch but “no scissors” on plane. I guess I could work in one of my journals but can I take glue or glue stick on the plane?

I think about my trip to Paris next year all the time ...

I have to find a dress to wear to the wedding, like I said it’s hot and humid. I wanted something sort of retro but retro wear is only available on line and who knows if it’ll look good once I get it – there are a couple of wonderful boutiques in YL (land of gracious living – that’s what it says on the license plates) that I will go to tomorrow night to see if I can find something to wear – I’m just so picky about my clothes. I have a certain sort of style, I like a boutique classy stylish style (does that even make sense ?).

Woo Hoo it's Friday

Going to try to do some of those things on my "to do" list - first stop is Target - love love love Target. My sister in law has never seen - not one episode of "sex in the city" so for her birthdaY I am getting her the 1st season of the show. Need to pick up a dad's day gift for my hubby and for my dad. I have some ideas in mind.

O - my coffee has arrived - yummy, the first sip is the Best!

Enjoy your day -

Thursday, June 12, 2008

I'm very chatty tonight.

School is out for summer!!
Yep this is pretty much how I feel in the morning - my family knows not to mess with mom before she's had her cup or two of java.

Today's my friday - woo hoo!! Took tomorrow off from work to do some running around and spend some time my boy - that's him up there.

I am looking at my to do list and there must be 50 things on there - who is going to get all this stuff done? me??? Everyday there is more and more stuff added to this list, and everyday I'm checking things off - what the heck???

Wondering if I want to go to Silverbella again this year, I really really had a great time last year and met some really fun women - hmmmmm something to add to the "to do list".

I've still been working on the "switzerland" album for Alora - 1/2 way done then I'll post some pics.

I do have some news I've been holding out on ......
Hubby and I are going to Paris next year for our 10 year anniversary. We will go to Turkey, Germany, Paris and Prog - can't wait to go to a paris flea market that I hear so much about.

Sex in the City

Sweet hubby took me to see this last night - what a guy! He used to watch it with me when it was on, he said he actually likes the show. I think including hubby there were 5 men in the packed theater - and we went to the 5:30 pm showing. When we came out the line was super long and yes - mostly groups of women. The movie was excellent. I didn't want it to end. The clothes are amazing and the characters were just as they were on the show.

if you are a fan you are going to LOVE the movie!!

Our Palm Desert Weekend

Our weekend was a BLAST!! We stayed at my cousin's house in Palm Desert. It was hotter than snot out there so we decided to just hang out around the pool all day - we talked and laughed A LOT! We cleaned up and went to Bing Crosby's for dinner. The 40's style restaurant has fantastic food, 40's music and decor. Vintage movie star photos all over the walls with velvet drapes - a rich glam feel. We laid around the pool again today before heading home - Love my girls!!!!

Our next weekend get a way may be Santa Monica again in November -
